Comments on a draft

Leave feedback on a document while you're working on it — notes, questions, change requests — right where the work is, instead of scattering them across chat and email. Comments are only ever visible in the authoring tools (this app and Claude). They are never part of the published document readers see — on any room type.

Comments never publish. A comment is stored separately from the document's HTML, so publishing, sharing, snapshotting a version, or exporting a PDF carries none of your comments into what a reader gets. Say anything you need to your team — it stays internal by design.

Add a comment

On any document, open its 💬 Comments panel (the count shows how many are still open). Editors can add a comment; anyone who can see the room can read them. You can optionally anchor a comment to a spot in the document: select some text in the preview and click Anchor to selection (or add a freeform label), and the comment gets a pin in the preview where that text appears.

"Add a comment on the pricing one-pager: the headline needs a stronger CTA."
"Comment on the intro of the Acme proposal — ‘tighten this paragraph’."

Resolve, reopen, edit, delete

  • Resolve / reopen — any editor can mark a comment resolved once it's handled, or reopen it. Resolved comments stay on record (filter to Open, Resolved, or All).
  • Edit — only the person who wrote a comment can edit its text.
  • Delete — the comment's author or a company admin can delete it.
"List the open comments on the Acme proposal."
"Resolve the comment about the CTA on the pricing one-pager."

Where comments live

  • Per document — comments belong to one document; the unified list is the source of truth. Anchored pins in the preview are a convenience and are best-effort: if a quoted snippet can't be found after edits, the comment still shows in the list flagged "anchor not found" — nothing is ever hidden.
  • Private rooms stay private — comments on a document in a private room are only readable by people who are in that room.
  • Cleaned up with the doc — delete a document (or move it to another room) and its comments go with it; copying a document does not copy its comments.
Comments are flat (no threaded replies) and are for the working/draft period. For the formal review → approval trail on controlled documents, use the Govern panel instead.
